The CEN No. 02/2026 recruitment is a centralized employment notification issued by the Ministry of Railways, Government of India, to recruit a grand total of 6,557 Technicians across various Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs).
Posts and Vacancies
The recruitment is categorized under two main pay levels with a total vacancy pool of 6,557 Vacancy
- Technician Grade I Signal (Pay Level 5): Features an initial monthly pay of ₹29,200 with 323 total vacancies across India.
- Technician Grade III Categories (Pay Level 2): Features an initial monthly pay of ₹19,900 with 6,234 total vacancies. This level includes 24 distinct post codes like Track Machine, Blacksmith, Bridge, Carriage & Wagon, Diesel/Electrical variants, Fitter, Welder, and Crane Driver.
Educational Qualifications
Candidates must possess the requisite qualifications on or before the closing date (29.07.2026); those awaiting final results are not eligible.
- Technician Grade I Signal:
- Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Physics / Electronics / Computer Science / Information Technology / Instrumentation from a recognized University/Institute.(OR) B.Sc. in a combination of any of these basic sub-streams.(OR) Three years Diploma or a Degree in Engineering in the above basic streams or their combinations.
- Technician Grade III (Various Trades like Fitter, Welder, Blacksmith, Electrical, Diesel Mechanic, etc.):
- Matriculation / SSLC plus ITI from recognized institutions of NCVT/SCVT in the respective trade.(OR) Matriculation / SSLC plus Course Completed Act Apprenticeship (CCAA) in the relevant trade.Note for Category 14 – Technician Grade III (S&T): Candidates with a 10+2 qualification with Physics and Maths can also apply for this specific category.
Age Limit & Relaxations (As on 01.07.2026)
- Technician Grade I Signal: 18 to 33 years (Candidate must be born between 02.07.1993 and 01.07.2008 for UR/EWS).
- Technician Grade III: 18 to 30 years (Candidate must be born between 02.07.1996 and 01.07.2008 for UR/EWS).
Permissible Age Relaxations (Upper Age Limit):
- SC & ST candidates: 5 years
- OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates: 3 years
- Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD): UR/EWS – 10 years, OBC-NCL – 13 years, SC/ST – 15 years
- Ex-Servicemen (after deducting length of service): UR/EWS – 3 years, OBC-NCL – 6 years, SC/ST – 8 years
Examination Fee & Refund Policy
The fee must be paid separately for each Pay Level.
- For all regular candidates (UR, OBC, EWS):₹500.
- Refund: ₹400 will be refunded (deducting bank charges) upon successfully appearing in the CBT.
- For SC, ST, Ex-Servicemen, PwBD, Female, Transgender, Minorities, or Economically Backward Class (EBC): ₹250.
- Refund: The full ₹250 will be refunded (deducting bank charges) upon successfully appearing in the CBT.
