Eligibility Criteria

Age Limits

Sub Inspectors: Up to 30 years.
ASIs and Head Constables: Generally 18 to 27 years.
Head Constable (Electrician): 18 to 25 years.
Constables: 18 to 27 years for Driver/Veterinary; 18 to 23 years for most Tradesmen.

Qualifications (Examples)

SI (Communication): Bachelor’s degree in Electronics/Communication, Computer Science, IT, or Science with Physics, Chemistry, and Math.
ASI (Pharmacist): 12th (Science) + Diploma in Pharmacy + 1 year experience.
HC (Communication): 12th with PCM or a 3-year Diploma in Electronics/CS/IT.
Constable (Driver): 10th pass + valid Heavy Vehicle Driving License.
Constable (Veterinary): 10th with Science + 1 year experience in animal treatment.

Selection Process

The selection consists of sequential stages:

Stage I: PET & PST
- PET: Typically involves a 4.8 km race for males (24 mins) and 2.4 km for females (18 mins) for Constable posts. Technical posts like ASI and HC (Medical) have a shorter 1.6 km (6 min 30 sec) race for males. SI Staff Nurse and Pioneer are exempted from PET.PST: Standard height for males is generally 170 cm (relaxed to 162.5 cm for ST) and 157 cm for females (relaxed to 150 cm for ST).Stage II: Written Examination
  - Candidates must take a Common Entrance Test (CET), usually a 100 or 150-mark objective test. Qualifying marks are 50% for UR/EWS/OBC/Ex-SM and 45% for SC/ST.
  Stage III: Skill Test (Specific posts only, e.g., HC Electrician).
- Stage IV: Documentation and Medical Examination.
